It all started with a song.

 

Before she fell in love with writing stories, K.M. (Kim Marie) crafted songs. A background as a performing artist, for many years she was an active performer who couldn't sit still long enough to write a novel. In her late thirties, while pregnant with her fourth child, she entered a new season when writing became an outlet for her to find clarity in the midst of chaos.

In 2017, her family uprooted out of their native soil in Tracy, California and transplanted themselves in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. They bought ten wooded acres, and built a home there. Their adventures in homesteading have been a perfect source of inspiration for K.M.'s writing.

Agatha Christie, John Dickson Carr, Jane Austen, Rhys Bowen, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Emily Bronte, and C.S. Lewis are among K.M.s favorite authors and influences. One of her happy places after a long day is curling up with a cozy mystery or a historical fiction novel and getting lost in a story.

Kim and her husband Rob will celebrate thirty years of marriage in 2026. They have two adult children, two high schoolers, two dogs, a cat, three ducks, many chickens, and four pigs.

In addition to writing and music, Kim teaches voice lessons in Olympia, Washington.
